Improving Ankle Dorsiflexion
Here is a good video about how to increase functional dorsiflexion of the ankle, in this case in a squat. The ability to adequately dorsiflex the ankle is vital in many activities such as walking, running and jumping and limitations to the range of movement can lead to problems and injuries further up the kinetic chain (this website has a bit more information and some examples). If you are going to try any of the exercises in the video, I would recommend starting with a thinner block and build up. It's also worth saying a good massage can help to free up the tight tissues in the calf that might be restricting this motion before launching into functional mobility exercises!
